On Sunday mornings, the traditional form of liturgy is used. We have recently purchased the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal from Augsburg Publishing. This new hymnal provides a variety of worship settings; there are ten in all. As we transition to the new hymnal, settings are used that resemble those from the Lutheran Book of Worship. Worship is supplemented with a bulletin that contains the whole service making it easier to follow. On Sunday evening, we use a more contemporary style. This form of worship is more casual. Our contemporary band, The Fishtones , comprised of guitars, keyboard, drummer and singers, leads worship and praise music that resembles music heard on local Christian radio. The Fishtones have a recorded CD and lead with an expertise and enthusiasm that enhances the time we spend before God.

The Lords Supper/ Communion

As a member of the ELCA, we open communion to all those who believe in Jesus and his promise of salvation by grace through faith. We believe that Christ is mysteriously present in, through, and under the elements of Bread and Wine. This sacrament or gift from God unifies us as children of God under the commonality of Christ. Communion is distributed every Sunday during the morning traditional services only.

Our Rogers Organ

Mark Hurley is our church organist and has played for the congregation Since 1997. We are blessed to have Mark serve us. He brings, not only his talent and years experience as a musician, but a love and dedication to his ministry that is deeply appreciated. (Use picture and explanation of organ sent)

The Fishtones

Fishtones had their beginnings in 1997. We needed a casual contemporary style of music and asked members from St. Matthew to help. Slowly musicians were added to the band until the present members were formed. We are blessed to have such a committed and talented group of people serving in the Lord in this special ministry.

The Choir

Our choir is lead by Pam McCracken. Pam brings to the choir her musical talent and gifted leadership. We have members who serve on the choir, year after year, with heart and dedication serving God with voices of praise. We are tremendously blessed to have our choir serving the Lord and leading those who worship at St. Matthew.

ST.
